So, I'm about to hit the Luv button and I'm looking for the small print regarding SP/HP.
Does this indicate a SP, then if needed, a HP only if they deem necessary? Or does this mean a HP is required regardless?
I've always called in for the CLI because I can always get confirmation of SP before they proceed, but I'm wanting to try for the Luv button/Call-in double dip.....so I just want to clarify this before I move forward.
That is always the language for a SP. They really will not do a HP unless they prompt you to give them permission to do so on the next step. I have never received that prompt but usually ask for a CLI once or twice a month for the past 3.5 years.
I've been denied on the love button before.
What happened was they prompt for an unable to process your request then they send you a decision letter in the mail.
I believe its soft pull unless you want to force the issue. My denial didn't show up on TU or EX.
I always wait until the updated credit score is in the system before I try to apply. From my experience also its less likely to work if you have high utilizaton on the card (using it for a BT). At a certain point they deem you maxxed out and aren't going to give it to you.

I've been denied at least 50 times. For whatever reason, Discover isn't overly fond of me and is the lender I have the least amount of overall credit from.
The utilization thing isn't necessarily true. I'm an AU on a card that has had a $7000 CLI when the card was at like 40% utilization. The only thing predictable about Discover is that they are unpredictable. What works for one person won't work for another, or even for the same person later on. People have big BTs and get big CLIs, others get denied. People pay off large BTs and get big CLIs, others get denied. People run a lot of spend through the card and get big CLIs, others get denied. People sock drawer the card and don't use it for a year and get big CLIs, others get denied. People have $75k incomes with blemished reports and get $35k credit limits while others have $250k incomes with flawless reports and get stuck with $5k credit limits. Discover is always a mystery.
You’re not the only one - Ms Disco is mean to me too! 😢😂

The two reasons in my opinion to at least give Disco a shot.
1) Longer dated balance transfer offers if/when you need them.
2) The potential to it to a big CL.
Its a sock drawer card. Actually its in my tie drawer in a steel box with 50 other cards burried somewhere.
Ok, right on.
So my UT% on the Discover card specifically is 0%, clean currently. My overall UT% across all cards is 28% right now (primarily on 2 of my 6 cards)....do they look at overall UT% or only on the Discover itself?
So I wonder if it would just be best to do my regular call-in (which has always been somewhat successful) rather than try the DD ?

As I mentioned earlier, people have been granted or denied CLIs for no utilization, low utilization, moderate utilization, and high utilization. There really is no way to answer that for Discover.
Score is certainly a consideration, so in that matter your utilization on botth individual cards like the Discover and across all cards will be factored in. I don't think there's any difference between calling or asking online, other than if you call in you're not going to get a double dip by asking online, whereas in the other order it's a possibility.
@K-in-Boston
So this begs the question....will Discover use the FICO score for me that they post on their portal using only TU information, or do they use the actual score across all bureaus? Because my score on Discover's website is typically higher (for whatever reason) than my true scores, even the TU score they post.

Discover uses the TransUnion FICO 8 score shown in your account. The TU08 score they show will be identical to any other source of TU08 score pulled at the same time. Remember that FICO scores are an instant snapshot of the moment they were pulled. If there are big changes to your reports, you could have big changes in score even on the same day.
