Re: Discover Miles

I think if I get my 90 day CLi on my It Card next week, then I will open the Miles card after my cash match ends in May, keep that for a year, then combine my limits and keep the It Card.

Fidelity is US Bank tho right? As much as I love USB as my bank and my Cash+ card.... I don't want any more cards that pull a HP for CLIs. I think that is so stupid considering they have a new report monthly for cardholders.

Maybe I'm wrong on fidelity-I'll have to check but I think they are USB

"pull a HP for CLIs" meaning they pull when you request one like chase? That's not a positive thing but then again isn't the purpose of both this card and DC "have guaranteed 2% cashback for spendings that can't trigger a higher reward" rather than 'popping up the total CL'? They also compliments each other by being MC and VISA thus almost 100% acceptance.

Also, they have raised mine automatically without much usage (used DC more back then) and I've never been pulled by them (account was transfered to them when it became a VISA).

Re: Discover Miles

@Glow......Depends on what you want. As to what your purpose of the card is. I don't like or want to have 20 or 30 cards. I want 5 or less and have them all be high limits. I also don't like cards that pull a hard when if you have a Cc the company already pulls a soft (AR) INQ on you every month anyway so they already have your report-why pull a hard when they know it will decrease your score or hurt Approval chances?

Your theory would be right if this was the only company that offered this. But there are plenty of cards that only pull a soft for a CLi and plenty that offer a 1.5% or higher non-category cash back card.

So for me, I have 2 purposes. Both to get a higher cash back percentage on non-category charges and to have a high CLI.
So I would pass on the Fidelity card since there are others that offer this without pulling a hard.

Plus USB (Elan) is not known for super high CL's and are known for being conservative. They are sort of my one exception to my goals mentioned above since they are my bank-if I didn't bank with them I would not have their CC most likely, tho I do love the cash+ Visa sig.

One last thing-that's great you got an auto CLI. You should if you have a card and use it responsibly. Auto CLI never have Hard pulls. They can't pull your credit as a hard pull without your consent. If they are going to increase you without asking if you want the increase it is always a soft pull.
