Well after spending quite a while working on rebuilding my credit with crappy rebuilder cards I was able to get approved for some legitimate cards from Citi and Capital one last year. I had been doing pretty well at not applying for any new credit for the past few months since my app spree last summer.
However I got a pre-approval offer from Discover this past week and was tempted to give it a try even though I didn't think my credit would qualify, so I applied and sure enough I was approved for a Discover More card with a $1,000.00 limit!!!! Not that big of a limit but it makes me happy to just be approved by Discover. This worked out pretty well because my horrible HSBC Discover card (Which has been stuck at a $300 credit limit for the past 3 years) was charged its annual fee this past Friday so I was able to call in and cancel that this morning and get rid of it finally!
Does anyone have experience with this card? How good is Discover with CLIs? Are the rewards of the cash back that they promote really as good as they make it sound? Any comments would be great!
Thanks!
it's supposed to be a great card! congratulations!

Congratulations ArchEagleJ on your new Discover More!!
I go this one a year a go with 2K CL, and they gave me $500 auto CLI three months later. Currently still 2.5K and I tried soft-pull. But I did not get CLI.

Congrats on the discover. You should have just left the HSBC open since you paid the annual fee for it.
Pumbaablah,
I actually didn't pay the fee, once I saw that it had been assessed on my account I called to close the card and they refunded the fee, thankfully! They did offer to waive the fee this year and said that with the economy getting better they were working on allowing higher credit limits but I just didn't want to deal with having to keep up with it and then remembering to cancel it next year so I just went ahead and got rid of it.
Thanks for the replies so far!

How nice! How did you approached and what did you say?
I did try it with Citi and ended-up disaster .... Lol
WHat Citi card did you apply and get? What were your scores?

It was Citi Driver's Edge and score was about 730. I got this in February and Discover More in March ... following month. I should have done it same day or same week ... to save my score ...
I meant the OP, but thanks for your information!
