First of all, thank you to all the members on the boards here! You've helped me all so much, and I am on the road to credit recovery.
I decided today to apply for the Discover More card and see what happens. I applied online and get the 5-7 day, we need more info response. I called the backdoor number and the analyst went over my income with me and went over two of my baddies on my CR that are 3 years old. She then said I was approved! My CL is $1,000 and the card will be here soon.
For those asking, they pulled TU and no I don't know my exact score at the time I applied. My last score on 4/22 was 639 for TU and two things have changed since then. I was an AU on my parents Chase Visa which was reporting a 12k balance on a 17k limit card which was horrible for my utilization. Also, a CA was removed from my TU report. (Portfolio recovery GW success.)
Thanks again for all the help, and good luck and best wishes to all those apping!
Congratulations!!!!
I just apped for the Discover More and was declined due to too many inq's in the last two years, called for a recon, was told sorry, there is nothing he could do, called back instantly and spoke to a very nice lady, explained the inq's were from when I was purchasing my car and was "Rate Shopping" hence the 11 inq's, she put me on hold, came back and said "Congratulations, you are approved 2000CL"
What were the baddies? I called backdoor # three times and they all said if you had any "charge off" it is a instant denial and nothing they can do. Same thing with collections, so I'm curious.

Congratulations!
I'm also curious about the baddies. I've seen it a lot on these boards - people are asked about their baddies, etc. What are everyone's responses (if it's not too personal) who ends up receiving the recon?
The baddies they asked me about were two seperate charge offs.
I had a charge off from HSBC Best Buy in Fall of '08 that she asked about. I told her about my divorce and that I was newly seperated, and while trying to figure out all the finances the account had gone delinquent. What was odd was that I had GW'd Portfolio Recovery and so they did not show up on my report, but this did so she was perplexed how it said paid, but to who? I told her the truth that I had paid a CA.
The second charge off/collections was from a rental company whose lease I broke. This one was back in 2005. I told her straight up I broke the lease, but that I was trying to dispute this with the managament company, but it was my understanding they wouldn't put it on my report because they would give me ample time to pay off the balance. They didn't so it ended up being on my CR.
She said okay, well other than those two I don't see anything bad in the past two years, welcome to Discover.
Congrats Jacob85!
