My daughter just contacted Discover to PC her (very old) IT Miles card to IT. I thought this would be easy having done it myself years ago.
But.....
"That's awesome you are looking to switch to another card type that may better fit. At this time we are not offering the ability to change card types. I am not able to provide a time frame on when it may be offered as the processes for conversion are being reviewed and improved. You are welcome to reach out again in the future to see if the option is available.
In the meantime, you are also welcome to apply for a second account to get that card type. Discover card customers can have up to 2 credit card accounts and can apply for the second account once the first has been open for more than a year, which yours has. You can apply online at Discover.com or you can call us 24/7 at 1-877-587-1605 to apply by phone. You must be 21 or older to apply by phone. Was there anything else I can help with today? "
It looks like people were having success PCing as recently as April of this year. Anyone else been told this? Wonder if it is just a question of trying again with a different rep!
Unfortunately that's the case right now when I tried to PC my card earlier last month. The website has the same type of message. Contacted customer service through the chat as well and had the same answer. I don't really mind waiting (even if the sooner it comes back online the better) but taking away a tool (even their representatives don't have access to it!) and not providing even a remote time frame... like really? To be fair this is the first time I'm having an "issue" with Discover.
I got the same answer from a rep. I thought it might just be the rep, but tried twice and same answer from both.

Right, and as mentioned, the link https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/card-conversion/ gives a similar message, so real for now!
My husband called twice last week and he was told they don't do it anymore. I couldn't believe it. I PC'd mine last year after having it for 3 months.
Need a competition to come up with the best response to the hyperbole in "That's awesome you are looking to switch..."(and then not allowing it)
"It's indeed hearwarming to hear processes for conversion are being reviewed and improved" doesn't quite capture it (I would add my thoughts and prayers are with them, but that's too political)
I just tried to PC my It Chrome on 7/1 to an It Cash Back and got a hard no on it saying they are revamping the system for PC and maybe in a few months but they have no real answer. They told me since my account is over a year old I should just apply for the It Cashback and get a second card (it's not a year old till November). Didn't want to burst that bubble so they offered the 12 month 0% promo that apparently everyone who's called in is getting. I don't plan on carrying a balance but I guess it's nice if something comes up where I need to take advantage of it.

Thanks! I just called and got one myself. That 0% is gonna be good for when I start Christmas shopping on Amazon and using my digital wallet in the 4th quarter.
