I have Discover on my list of cards to apply for next week. However, I'm unable to figure out if there are primt/subprime cards for them. I see that they have the regular It cash back card, the It Chrome, and the It Miles. If I had a preference, I would get the It Miles since I already plan on doing a couple other cash back cards, but I cant figure out if these cards all have the same credit requirements, or if any are considered their prime or subprime card. This is the last card I need to figure out before I have my app spree. Any one have any insight?
Thanks.
Id consider none of Discover's self-issued cards to be subprime cards..... Yes they do have a secured card with a tad high APR.. but no AF, same rewards as their non-secured brothers... And it can and usually does eventually graduate...... Now if your talking about subprime cards that use discover as a processor, thats another issue entirely

Discover Miles is really a cash back card with a wifi credit marketed as a travel card. You can't transfer the "miles" to an airline's loyalty program. You don't even have to redeem them for travel. You can get just plain cash. You should think of it as a cash back card.
I like having the 5% rotating It card. I find the card remains useful even when I have several other great cards.
Thanks for all the feedback. I'll likely just go for the Discover it Cash back if they all have the same UW process and score requirements.

I'm not quite sure what Discover looks for in approving someone for an unsecured card vs. a secured one. I'd look into that further before applying.

Discover cards are not sub prime, they may however offer subprime intrest rates and SL's to people who may have scores that could be considered subprime, but all in all Discover is a prime card. I don't know if different cards they offer have different UW standards by I would doubt it considering they all offer rewards, the only way to know for sure is to apply. Your scores are good and your file is thin which discover seems to prefer.
When the IT Miles came out, there were quite a lot of unexpected rejections from people here and it therefore got a reputation as a hard card to get. Don't know if that was just the sample, or if it really is different (especially now, a new card might have stricter standards at first)
