Glad I clicked on this post. Worked perfectly!
Was able to get a $2500 cli with the automated line.
Thanks!

Today my option became available so I gave it a shot, and they denied my on the spot without transferring to CSR. Wonder when I can try it again.
17 months! Yep, check that, 17 months today in January without either the online request OR automated phone. I guess they are really serious on wanting that proverbial HP first. Each n every time i have exercised my option to decline, and well, so have they. $1400 limit is my lowest overall limit and happens to be with them, but AS_IS Discover Card is ok for an occasional fill-up, donuts and coffee as well as other 5% categories here n there.
I think like many issuers, they want to see you utilizing up close to your limit and then paying down before they will tend to extend you more. They do give me auto CLI's sometimes, but they don't tend to be huge, usually 1000 or 1500. Better than nothing. I did get a SP increase that I initiated a few months ago which was 2000. But since I haven't spent anywhere close to my new limit, there really isn't much reason for them to extend me more. Issuers do not tend to care if you say you just want more limit to pad your util.

Nope, been there done that. It's often overlooked the fact that some people are mailed promotional preapprovals according to certain lenders (not so much Risk Assessment only) but potential INTEREST makers for their business plans. I think that at the time my credit profile fell directly into that particular criteria and fit it to a T. And nothing else. As my opportunities increased (new lenders-higher starting limits) along with regular SP limit increases, Discover all but washed their hands of it. They do estimate provisions for that marketing too and such is as it's turned out after 16 months.
Run up to the CL and PIF, rolled a balance 60-90 days, etc. which was my limit since they saddled my offer with no 0% offer whatsoever as well as immediate high APR, did the dance but got no audience for the efforts.
The free FICO is OK though for now. May close this card next year.
92 days ago got a HP CLI of +2.5K, thx to this post I gave the online SP CLI Luv button a try tonight, got another +3K - this board rocks.

It's only anecdotal but I've never used anywhere close to my limit (always well under 30%) and have received CLI's. First was an HP and nearly doubled the limit. The several auto CLI's have been smaller. IMO people rely too much on and assume too much causality with usage.
It's been the same for me with all creditors. Again, only anecdotal, but I've never had high usage and have received CLI's with many. Haven't recevied any with Chase but I know I hit my internal limit with them back when I opened my 4th Chase card.
Actually, I did have a $19K charge on one of the Chase cards. As I said, no CLI's.

Of course not but there have been very few instances where I've had to supply a reason like that and I can't recall what I provided whenever the question was asked but it was some standard answer.
WHOA! Just used the Discover Luv Button and got a $4.5k increase. Biggest to date with Discover. Yes Please!
I had to wait 15 months before Discover gave me some love. I have never used my card for much...probably $2000 total spend in the 15 months.
Using the online CLI request I was able to get:
- Month 15: $1,000 CLI to $2,400
- Month 20: $500 CLI to $2,900
- Month 23: $500 CLI to $3,400
- Month 27: $500 CLI to $3,900
- Month 28: $500 CLI to $4,400
I really have no idea what their criteria are so I just log on every now and then and try my luck. Every request so far has been a SP.
Is this better than the luv button? I imagine results would be the same.
