Also, I wasn't sure what your question was but just be mindful that with tax, you will probably be capping out your limit with that one purchase. If that reports at 90% plus on utilization, you are going to take a hit.
You'd pay $5k + tax/shipping now, then would get 10% cashback next statement, then another 10% next year is the way I see it. Anybody else see it different?

You get the 10% back within 30-60 days it claims, and then would get another 10% on his 13th statement since he activated the double cash back offer.

The hit is not a problem since I going to PIF next day
And THAT's why I paid off my Discover a couple days ago.
I want to be able to take advantage of something like this if it comes along. I had some 0% on it so I was trying not to use it for purchases. We used DH for restaurants once the DC kicked in. But I want to be able to use my card for HD or Lowe's stuff this quarter. And I JUST realized it's Dept stores too! I had missed that. I RARELY shop at dept stores, but I will likely do a little back to school shopping and if it involves Macy's I will feel better knowing I can walk in rather than trying to work an online deal.

but isn't it more cash back for you, if you use discover deal and purchase from macys.com? so you get 5% cash back for dept store deal and 10% back from discover deal.

Won't affect his cap since that's a Discover Deal. He'll still have his $1500 per quarter 5%.
Edit: oops you meant CL. Making some nice cash back there tthough! And still not touching your category spend, way to go.
