I would just reach out to a CSR. I've never had a problem like this but a CSR did walk me through a CLI scenario where I could have one amount on SP or name my amount with a HP. They should be able to help.

Sorry to add confusion but I requested a CLI about a week ago and I got my approval 2 days ago...by email. So based on the previous responses their method of notification must vary?
When I requested a CLI in February, they did send me an approval email. So they definitely send out emails upon approval, but I guess there's no email when its a denial according to the others that have posted.

I opened my Discover September and have never had a cli from them. All my other cards are growing besides Discover.
That insteresting. Have you requested an increase from them or are you referring to auto cli? I've never recieved an auto cli from them either.

If the limit is sufficient then why are you so worried about this? It's just a credit card. It's no more useful at $20k or $3,500. If it's sufficient just enjoy it and quit worrying about such trivial things.
Good grief dude. I was simply asking if anyone has experienced lack of communication with Discover. If you haven’t, that’s fine. No need to respond. Since I’m fairly new to credit I don’t know all things, but from my understanding, its better to have a higher limit for utilization purposes. If my limit is $500 and I put $500 on my card, its maxed out. If my limit is $20k and I put $500 on my card, that’s only 3% utilized. Although my current limits are sufficient, I might want to make a huge purchase in the future and would like to have a limit to support that. Thanks though.

Follow up with Discover. We have no idea what's going on with your situation.

Do not rely on the usage meme for any creditor. It is never just about usage alone or even just the one account itself -- one's entire credit profile matters. Even without usage it can grow. Limits and CLI's are priamrily determined based on credit profile and income. I haven't used my Discover much recently and it has had several large CLI's.

Revolving utilization isn't just limit(s). It's balance(s) / limit(s). There are certainly many possible reasons why one might want a CLI including revolving utilization but you can also pay down balances prior to their report dates to manage reported revolving utilization.
