For the people that have done it or that know how. When you do the private message with discover and go to compose message. It allows me to select APR questions but when I select lower APR as topic it says you cant do that through chat and to call this number. Do you just send a general message asking for lower APR anyway??
How did you each do it specifically in chat?? Where?? What steps?? Should I mention that I have just gotten Barlcays Ring with 8%??
Are you still in the promo period? Mentioning your other cc's is irrelevant, each lender bases your APR on their UW criteria. I never did it my SM, always called.

I did the same as lexie did when i got my apr reduction with discover, I am not sure if you can do it via SM.

I did it through chat. Under the Help Center tab, select 'Contact Us', and click on Chat Live Now option. It won't give you any topic options, it will only ask for your name.Hope that helps. ![]()
Yes, thank you. Thought it might be direct instant messaging with them. The last time I called in to talk to them direct they turned my APR reduction down. I think with a decent balance currently they might lower my APR though chat. Might as well try : )

They won't lower your rate if you're still in the promo period, but if you're not, there is no harm in asking. Good luck!
I will have to call them and ask if I am in a promo period. I signed up in march or 2013. At the end of that promo period In december I asked for lower APR and they made me sign a new mini application and lowered my APR to 20.24%. I dont think there was any promo period with my new Discover APR(sig application). It def must of been a different product of theirs or they wouldnt of asked me to sign and mail back the form.
They love me for CLI's. APR's not so much. The CLI is more important currently as I grow but the APR now against my new cards is the worst of the 4.

You can also ask about that through chat. First ask if your account is in an APR promo period. If they say no, ask if your account qualifies for an APR reduction. I could never remember when my 0% promo was going to end so I would ask through the chat. Discover has really friendly reps.
DH got a APR reduction through online chat for his Miles Card in May. He got on Chat and they said he Qualified for a reduction, they sent a Reduction Request in the mail, which had to be mailed back to Discover in Utah and a week later he logged in a had a message and they gave him a 1.99% reduction.
If you are not in the promo period you can do a quick phone call and get it over with ... less than 2 minutes and if your account qualifies you get your lower APR. If still in promo period it is not possible to modify and you need to wait. I did this the first month out of the 0% promo period and it worked and I will do it again in fall trying to get closer to the 10,99%..lol
