I don't think the purchase  is coding right so the OP isn't get the 5% cash back.

Amazon Pay isn't used on Amazon.com but through third parties who just use Amazon Pay as a merchant processor.

What site did you make a purchase on?

Amazon Pay doesn't count as an Amazon purchase on other cards, such as the Chase card, so it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't count on Discover. I called Chase to question this before making an Amazon Pay purchase, and they connected me to Amazon. The explanation from Amazon was that if a transaction shows up in my Amazon order history, it counts toward an Amazon reward. Amazon Pay purchases don't show up there, and thus, they don't count.

Sounds to me like wishful thinking to get the 5% . But i dont understand whats the Discover Amazon promotion when if its 5% its just part of their quarter to get 5%. Maybe im too tired today with all this rain and no power could be semantics lol

Back to topic at hand I agree it looks like they thought that using disco card stored with Amazon VIA Amazon pay but outside Amazon.com would count as 5% q4 category - which it does not. I had hoped the same a few weeks back but found otherwise
