Does BofA CLI request result in a hard pull?

Hi, all.

I'm wondering if BofA pulls hard when you request a CLI. When I'm logged into their site and go to my CC accounts, there's always a link that says "Request a credit limit increase" or something like that. Is this what Forum folks refer to as the "luv button"? And if I were to click on it, would it result in a hard pull? Both of my BofA cards are over five years old and have been automatically increasing by at least $3000 per year, CL-wise. I have < 1% UTI on one and 0% on the other.

No, the luv button is a soft inquiry. UNLESS they decline you and you ask for a manual review. They will tell you ahead of time if it will be a hard.

Definitely not a hard pull.

In fact, I'm not so sure it even does a true soft pull at that moment, as they don't seem to show up in the 'PROMO' category of my credit report on the date applied for. They may just look at the most recent soft pull they did on you for promo reasons.

It's been no more then a soft pull for my wife everytime she's tried.  She's been stuck at 12,000 for a couple of years.  When she pushed the button it always says she'll be contacted in so many days and then the letter says her credit limit is in line with her income.  But at least it's never been a hard.

Thanks... I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I'd love for my BofA Visa to match my BofA MC limit of $20,600.  Smiley Happy

Do you know if this is true of their FIA managed accounts as well? I was always auto CLI'd but those have become much slower of late. Ideally I'd like them to bring me up to 10k even, but I am willing to wait until Jan when I have a raise.

The only cap I've really found with BOA regarding CLIs is the line "You have sufficient credit with us [BOA] for your income. We'll review periodically for increases." We started getting this once we had 2 x $30K cards, and 1 x $11K card with BOA. We'll see if it goes away in time.

My BofA VISA is FIA managed and it's always been a soft pull. When I've hit the luv button and left the requested amount blank - they've always given me 20%.

Just tried... the credit card account section is DOWN for "enhancements." Told me to try again in 12 hours.

D'oh!

Keep us posted, please. We love hearing about CLI's.
