I paid my J. Crew/Comenity Bank card down to zero, but so far I'm not seeing that reflected on my credit reports. The statement date is the 15th, so five days ago. Does anyone know if Comenity doesn't report to the CRAs if the cardholder's balance is $0.00?
Comenity does state the following on my account page: "Below are all billing statements generated in the past 12 months. No billing statements are shown for months with a zero balance". The last statement listed is for February. Nothing for March because I had a zero balance.
Surely I don't have to carry a $1.00 balance to get Comenity to update the CRAs, or do I?

If there was a balance on the account reported to the CRAs last month then yes it will be updated to show a 0 balance. If the balance was 0 last month and you used the card then paid the balance to 0 prior to statement cut then they may not update the CRAs with some of their accounts. Its this way with my FRN. For these accounts you would want to let a balance report every 3 months or so so the TL gets updated and shows as current, you have to leave a balance of I would say at least $5.00 otherwise they will write it off as a small balance and the account will be at 0 so no update.
I believe that if you last statement had a balance and you've since paid it down to $0, Comenity will update it, but it is ~5 days later than usual. I read that on another thread on this board, but I can't find it.
I'm in the same boat as you, waiting for them to update 2 accounts.
This month I paid two Comenity accounts down to $0.00 and about 5 days went past and nothing was reported. I went into my account and sent a secured message asking them to please report my balance to the credit bureau. It then was updated in about 2 days.

I just sent SMs on both my accounts hoping to speed the process along. Thanks for the info.
I paid one of my Comenity CC off in January and after 2 reporting cycles it still has not reported to the CRA as paid. It is showing me still nearly maxed out.
Commenity seems to be in transition mode right now. All of my accounts with them are slow reporting with statement dates later than usual.
I also noticed they updated their Overstock site too.
Looks like they're making changes.
FYI today Jcrew, Loft and A&F updated for me. It is past the statement date (a week past?) and before the payment due date which is June 5th. Only updated on EX and EQ though, TU is always slower. I had to make a purchase and not pay it when I received the statement in order for it to update. Will pay it now...before the due date.
