LOL...yes but 5K with Discover would help...agree I do not need 25K....5K needed, 10K nice to have and the rest is luxe...but 2,5K on a great card really hurts me...if this would be on Citi AA then I could live with it .....hope in 6-12 month I can crack Discover...all I want/need is a 5K limit Smiley Happy

OT but what's holding you back from the Cash+ or other 5% tradelines?  Seasoning your credit file after recent new tradelines or?

The Cash+ is on my wishlist but I definitely have to hold off for the moment. One has to know when the limit is reached! But I will try to get it if I am ever close to a branch in 2015. As you can see Discover is completely spooked about my credit extension and I need to slow down for a while....I do not need AA or any more spooked lenders...LOL

Guess I just have a different approach: once I either sort out my mortgage by getting in by my fingernails next year or give up on it altogether, I'm going to wind up pushing my markers until they tell me no.  I sort of figure even if I get struck by AA I'll still be WAY ahead of where I started this journey two years ago, and it'll be a shorter path to build back up again.  If I had your 760+ scores and no mortgage coming up, well... Thanks for your thoughts....hope you are right. I guess I have lived in Europe for too long and with my income my CL would be max. 20K....no way to reach close to 100K. I guess I am still not used to these US dimensions.....LOL

Re: Does usage help with CLIs?

I would believe it does. It shows them that you show the promise of possibly making them some money off of interest in the future, but also that you're reliable enough to eventually pay off the balance. It's a win/win for them. I know Amex is notorious for being pretty friendly with the CLI, but considering my income my recent CLI probably was due, in part, to my consistent use of the card.

Re: Does usage help with CLIs?

It's strange really seems if you ask them for a non hard pull CLI they say NO but if you just give it the time they want like every 6 months like clockwork there is a CLI. I asked US AIR on my Barclays card and NOPE that was 2 months ago. 2 days ago I log on to make sure all is paid and such just to make sure I do not miss a payment and they have bumped my CLI to 7000. Now this is what is strange. I put a 72 hour old on a trip to Cancun and that night they bumped my card to 7000. I was due a bump up but that stuned me as it as a 2200.00 increase.  I just still can't seem to get my EQ into the high 700 range like EX and TR at 758 and 763. EQ sits at 714 and seems everyone you want credit from other than a mortage uses EQ. Also this month JC PENNY did a CLI from 900 to 1750 go figure that one. I have been with the card 24 months now with perfect payment history so it was time for one but 1750 at JC PENNY ? Not sure I will be using that much but I will take it cause it helps the utilization but i sit at 1% on all cards.

This is the question no one seems to give me a straight answer on. Should I leave a SMALL less than 1% on each card and use each card each month or use each card each month and pay them all down to zero except one and alternate which on each month I leave a bal on less than 1% ? I have been told to leave less than 1% on them all and I have been told no pay them all off each month before they post at payment time and leave a small balance on only one ?

What is the right answer ? I want to hit that magic mark of 800 and its just hard to do with a 4 years credit history but thank God I was at 533 when I started this and OMG those were some dark days. I did not pull my credit or let anyone else for like 8 years. By the time I started to work on it most stuff had rolled off. The bad that rolled off I wonder if banks can really see that even though it is gone and all negatives are paid and have been removed as well ? I have so far now no negatives whatsoever and perfect 4 year payment history and I am just looking to hit some magic numbers on all credit scores or FICO I should say. 760-820 would be great.

Starting FICO Score 2007: >> >> 533 -- God those were some Dark Days !!
Current >>>> 9-29-15 - (Experian 800 FICO-8 - (Equifax 798) - ( Transunion 808 )FICO Goals: 820-830 For all 3 or above
Ultimate Fico 850 x 3 Even if for a week Just to say I crawled out of the sewer and trust me it was the pits. I could not borrow a cent

Personally I'd rotate one with a balance and PIF on the rest. What's important is that you spend on them all at least semi-regularly, and are prompt with payments. That shows them you use their line of credit and they have the potential to eventually make interest off of you, but you're not reliant on it and are reliable when it comes to payment. But that's just personaly preference. I'm pretty conservative with credit in the first place...and a bit newer to the forum. Smiley Tongue Most posts I've seen on here recommend leaving all but 1 at zero, though.
