Doing some pruning and preparing to go into the garden

Hi all, I am about to start dropping some unneeded store cards (primarily from SCT) and prepare to sit in the garden for awhile.  I am planning to close all of my Comenity cards except Williams Sonoma due to it's limit of $4700.  With that card and the Amazon Prime store card I just got, I have all the store cards I need, I'm guessing.

I also have six bank cards

NFCU Platinum

Cap One QS1

Discover IT

Merrick (going bye bye)

Walmart MC

Marvel MC

Also, NFCU just refinanced my car and gave me a CLOC, so, I think it's time for me to enjoy the garden for awhile. Smiley Happy

Good thinking. Store cards make no sense unless thay provide value to you. And Merrick can certainly go at this point.

During your gardening period, you might want to zero in on that QS1 and see if it can't be product-changed into a no-fee Quicksilver. Keep in mind that patience is neccessary because PC-ing that card isn't easy. I'd suggest using the card each and every month, paying in full every month, and calling in every month to see if offers are available. I was able to PC two QS1s after doing that. I didn't necessarily charge a lot, and I usually didn't let balances report. I can't prove that there's a connection between usage and the offers, but it doesn't hurt to try that tack.

It is a good idea to prune when you don't have any use for them especially store cards.  What is your overall credit limit if you don't me asking?

I will definitely try to upgrade the Cap 1 card.  Even though it's my smallest limit, I would like to maintain a relationship with Cap 1 as I think it's worht it.

Not sure. Does that mean total credit for all of my cards and loans (auto, CLOC)?  If so,  about $43k.  If just cards, about $30k
