E*TRADE Visa Card

Does anyone have it or applied for it recently? It's open only for E*Trade customers, but I wonder how hard it is to get?

Thanks.

Re: E*TRADE Visa Card

I applied about year ago and I did not get it approved. If I remember they pulled my EX. I think Etrade out sourced their cards to either FirstUSA or US Bank. I am not sure if it is really that great card any way.

Re: E*TRADE Visa Card

concorduser,

Do you remember what were your FICO scores back then?

My primary reason to apply for this card is to increase utilization ratio. I've read elsewhere that it's not that great reward-wise, but I am not indending to use it anyway.

I think they were around 650 then. I dont remember exact number. But I did had few baddies then that I had them removed later. I dont know what they are looking for now a days. My suggestion, if your EQ is clean of inq ( less than 2 ) and scores over 620, try applying for Nordstrom, it will grow with you and excellent csr. Even if they start you with store card they will convert it to visa in 6 months, What are your scores on all 3 CR's and what is your baddies? I can give you better advice.

Re: E*TRADE Visa Card

My biggest problem is high utilization overall because of student loans and high utilization on number of individual credit cards. I payed off several cards completely, but the rest will keep high balances for a while because they have the lowest interest rates and I can't pay them off yet. So, instead I decided to increase overall utilization.

In terms of baddies, I had 60 days past due on a student loan, which is already payed off. It's already off 2 CR (TU, EX) and I was told by Loan Servicer that university already requested, and got positive answer, to remove this baddie from 3rd CR (EQ) as of this month.

My scores are 644 EQ, 688 TU, ??? EX. EQ should go up this week or so because student loan baddie will fall off. Also, util ratios on 4 cards will go from high 70s-90s. So, I expect nice bump, though maybe not enough to get me in 700s.

I did hear about Nordstrom. Is there a difference between applying online and in the store? I also found that my Macys card has $100 limit, but I need to reactivate it and ask for CLI.

Re: E*TRADE Visa Card

masks, my advice wait till the negative drops off your CR since it is going to happen very soon any way. Nordstrom you can apply online. With your scores you should have any problem getting approved. Normally they start with $2K store card and after 6 months convert to visa. They might even give you a visa card upfront. That is one of the best cards to have. You can also try for Cabella's Club Card, they also pull EQ.
