I don't know if this is notable or not but I got a Credit Karma notification that the creditor for my Fidelity Visa was changed from Elan Financial to US Bank. I know US Bank owns Elan. But any theories as to why the change? Could it be a sign of bigger changes to come?
Subscribing for more info.
I like this. Hoping to get more direct offers from USB now.
The website and application still list Elan, so I'm definitely interested in this as well, wonder if this is just CK jank, or all elan cards changing how they report or if fidelity card specifically going to US bank directly
Looked around and everything I could find read Elan Financial Services. Did find a reference to US Bank transitioning with Fidelity Investments the previous card in 2016 which had an American Express label. Other than that, I find no other information.
Follow, I contacted US Bank & Elan Financial directly. The customer service personnel and supervisors had no information on any changes. They did say, that it could change?

so you have two seperate tradelines now? the old one from Elan and the new one from US bank?
are they both aged with the same opening date?

No, only one tradeline. It looks like the Elan account was replaced. All the info appears to be the same...same opening date, balance, etc. Or perhaps they only changed the name of the original account listed.

Since it was from Credit Karma ... ?

I remember that, I was transitioned from FIA(?) to Elan. FIA is/was to Bank of America like Elani is to US Bank
ETA: Apparently "is/was" should be "is". FIA Card Services, N.A. (FIA), Wilmington, Delaware, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of America Corporation (BAC) headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Same, got the notification as well.
Interesting! Equifax updated and showed US Bank instead of Elan Financial date July 31, 2024. Also, received a notice of an acount change. Appears to have kept all the underlying information with no hard inquiry.
