Fidelity Visa: Useless

I've been looking for a card to replace my fidelity 2% and finally settled on Penfed 2%.  It's like Fido but without Foreign exchange fees and redemption can be cashed out at $5 instead of $50.

Anyway, so now i have this Fido card with a hefty CL and not nowing what to do with it.  I called US bank and they won't PC me to anything else.  They even said that even if i open another card they won't move the limit over from the Fido card and that i would have to apply for a CL inrease separately.

i guess all i can do is just keep the card active with deminimis charges every six months or something and keep the account open as a boost to my available CLs/util ratio

Sounds like a good plan to me.

You do not have to spend a penny to keep it open.  I have a US Bank REI card and I've never used it for about 5 years.  I just charged a $7 lunch to see if works.  And it did!

Re: Fidelity Visa: Useless

I haven't used it much anyway. Every six to eight months I get an email about an extra offer of a point per x spent. So it usually ends up being an extra $20-$30

I've been using Amex Blue Biz Pref as my daily driver. Come January 1st switch back to United Club until I hit $25k for PQD waiver.

Maybe he/she meant Amex Blue Business Plus? Card gives you 2X MR points on every purchase up to $50k per year.

The biz card was my fav addition in years. 12% interest but interst free for a year. And the line doesn't get reported on my personal CR. I've been tempted to buy out my car lease with this just to capture the spread.

Re: Fidelity Visa: Useless

The title is pretty misleading.  It might be useless for you now, but it's exactly what it advertises itself to be, a 2% card.  The Penfed card is great, but it has other account requirements to get the 2%.

I'd say 2% is really the new market standard.  Used to be 1.5% was standard and 2% was great, but with all the cool new cards out recently, 2% with no AF is really the standard to be competitive these days.
