They're definitely not a fan of new accounts and inquiries, and yes, it's basically the same thing as US Bank as far as underwriting, by all accounts. When people first started applying for the Fidelity Visa, we saw a lot of "too many new accounts" denials.
So your friend may do well to garden awhile. The card isn't going anywhere anytime soon as it was just rebranded and moved to Elan.

I don't think it's very factual that they are new accounts and inquiry sensitive. I was approved two weeks ago with over 20 new accounts in the last 24months and 9 inquiries. Granted I applied through a preselected offer I got in the mail. Was approved for a $7800 SL.
Probably somewhat dependent on whether you have a relationship with fidelity as well if they might overlook some recent credit seeking.. Know a few people with 20+ new accounts in the last few years that have obtained this car.d Not each profile is similiar thus its YMMV by possible relationship considered with fidelity and profile. I would probably be all over it as I have assets with Fidelity, but blispay does the same thing, but better imo so would be a duplicated card. Since my TU inquiries are at 0 currently which Elan can not see at least. Also I might add as many people know I HATE UsBank/Elan
