Lol dumb question indeed, although I know sometimes people will ask you both (particularly police but I could see it being done for the same reason elsewhere), because when somebody is using somebody else's ID for example (or a fake ID) they'll usually memorize the info printed on it, i.e. name DOB address etc, but they won't actually memorize the age, so that can be an easy way to catch somebody pretending to be someone they're not (like if they hesitate or get it wrong lol, although I myself have gotten my own age wrong before haha so this method doesn't really prove as much as they might think it does - I literally went almost a full year at one point thinking I was 27 - mind you I never forgot my DOB, I just never really thought about it hard enough - until someone asked me my age and my bf yelled out 'liar!' hahaha I was so confused and kinda bummed, I now remember I'm 29 because of that very incident when I was 28 but still, it's something you can forget if you don't pay attention for long enough lol.. or y'know, if you're a dummy like myself)
That's really the only valid reason I could think of for them asking both questions together but it's also entirely possible that whoever wrote the script they were reading is just dumb and being redundant lol
I am glad they caught the charges quickly!
Some questions can be rather silly. Then I feel as though they are trying to test my intelligence which on some days is well below average.
Keep an eye on your account anyway.
Some months back, a fraudulent (airline ticket) charge was made against my Citi account. Got the text, answered 'No', phoned. All good. Or so I thought.
Next thing I know, the friendly (~$2K) charge moves from 'Pending' to 'Posted'.
I called and asked them, "If you know it's fraudulent, why did you allow it to post?" They had no answer. Nuthin'. Not even plausible denial. "The charge will be corrected within 10 business days." ![]()
Took the better part of a month to finally correct (hours prior to the statement close -- I'm guessing because Citi would be exposed to potential liability if it knowingly reported a fraudulent charge as mine).
Citi's fraud-handling process desperately needs work.

Capital One told me that the charges had to post before I could receive credit. When they posted, I was credited immediately. I one case, I was credited for each fraudulent charge twice, once by Capital One and once by the merchants. It took Capital One six weeks to bill me for the money I ended up "owing" them. ![]()
The exception was when the pendings were for small $1.00 holds. Those simply dropped. One dropped in a few minutes. That's why everyone should receive notifications for each and every transaction. The notifications will catch those. But you're very likely to miss small temporary holds if your only means of monitoring is logging into your account.

All well and good.
With Citi, for two weeks, the charge occupied over 25% of my CL with no corresponding credit. I consider that to be very poor treatment of the consumer.
