Received a phone call from Citi AA Advantage 10 days ago telling me that a manual swipe was attempted in Mexico on 05/27/2015. The transaction was declined. FYI, I haven't used the card for 11 months (just churned for rewards). Citi overnighted a new card; however, I think the bank should have called earlier.
Then I tried to book a hotel through IHG, and no points were available. I called Chase and asked where my 70,000 points where. I was placed with the Fraud Dept. who asked me a ton of questions. Apparently, people were attempting to do manual swipes in Brazil. Chase never contacted me over this fact.
So, anyway, I was on the phone with Chase, and mentioned I have 4 other CC with them, and Savings. The Fraud Dept told me that they are aware of the issue with IHG, and that there is no need to change numbers for my other accounts.
The IHG account is less than 60 days old.
I know Citi was hacked last year, so I accept that. But Chase seems to be getting hacked every other month.
