Fraud on chase card.

Was looking at my account tonight and noticed 2 charges for over $500 at Office Depot. Called Chase immediatley and reported it. Afterwards I attempted to call the store # for the office depot where it occured and was greeted by automated voice machines which hung up after a few seconds. Anyone else have any experience with this? I guess I need to change all my cards and passwords as I have no idea where or how they got my information. Any advice moving forward??

Don't call the store, what is the point? Let Chase deal with it. Once you report it, there is nothing else that you need do.

Name and email address for the person who used my card number....interesting how they were able to use a different name and email address than my own.

To do what with? It is a police investigation, if that, now.

Re: Fraud on chase card.

I'm having the same thing going on (fraud) with Blispay and they told me if I file a police report that's strictly up to me, they do their own investigation. I won't suggest calling the store they won't do much if anything.

Re: Fraud on chase card.

No value in it, as long as you get refunded the money just go on with life.

Such things are pretty common in this day and age... and why would a store have the name and address of the person who charged it fraudulently?  That information rarely gets collected unless you fill out a loyalty form or offer it up (and I'd just state whatever name was on the card anyway).

Don't worry about it. Chase will take care of it.

Re: Fraud on chase card.

I purchased an item on eBay on Thursday from a person with over 100 stars and only one negative review.  Yesterday, it is delivered from Lowe's.  Suspecting fraud (that the seller used a stolen credit card to fulfill the transaction) I called eBay, Lowe's and then went to my local police department.  eBay said hold onto the item. Lowe's couldn't tell me who the card was issued to that purchased the item. Lowe's told me to bring it in and their fraud department might be able to sort it out.  The police told me to hold onto the item and not bother to bring it to Lowe's.  They said that there was insufficient evidence of a crime, that it is poosible the eBay seller didn't have the item in stock and ate a loss.  (My price was about $35 less than what was on the billing slip from Lowe's. )

I have messaged the eBay seller asking when he is planning to ship the item and where it would be coming from.  I haven't heard back.

Meanwhile, there is possibly a person in your position, having had their card used and wondering what kind of criminal would be so stupid as to buy something and have it sent to their home address with their own name.

As for your card, it is compromised and I would have your credit card company issue you a new one.

You called Chase and reported it. They deal with it. Most likely they will issue you new cards. Just run your credit report and make sure there is nobody using your info to open accounts and check your other cards as well. I had someone do a 2k+ charge on one of my chase cards and hve been through this a few times. Its annoying but is one of the reason more and more places require you to use your card chip.

I'm with the police on this!   You seem to have done a lot of work (and potentially wasted other people's time) for something  with no evidence of wrong doing.   You got the item you requested, so you are whole.

It doesn't exactly seem a great use for a stolen credit card to me, too much work and paper trail.
