I'd have to respectfully disagree with you Marine. Any so-called 'FAKO' score is at least some measure of your credit. For instance, if you have a good credit profile with a long history, your 'FAKO' score will probably be at the higher end of the spectrum, as will your FICO. So even though you probably won't have the EXACT score that the lender uses, you should at least have an idea how healthy your credit is, as I think was the point DI was making.
On the same note, I was recently approved for a Gander Mountain MC, and they sent me a letter stating, "In the scoring system we used, scores can range from 479 to the best possible score, 898." I haven't done any research yet, but I'm pretty sure that's NOT a FICO. So given that fact, defining a 'FAKO' score as ANY score the lender DIDN'T use to determine your creditworthiness, any FICO in this case would be determined - a FAKO...
I pulled it up, and it seems pretty accurate. Not bad for a free product.
For those wondering how accurate it is, my Experian Fico Score was 775 on March 31st. (This was provided by American express when I opened a card. Is it safe to assume this is a true FICO?)
US bank list it as 744 (as of today, 4/6). It is a difference of 31 points, which isn't really great, but when amex pulled my report I had no inquirys, as of today I have one (from AMEX), and my AAoA is a bit lower if the Amex has reported yet (that may be a bit unlikely).
Its not great, but for a free product, I'm happy with it.
