This is a standard GE response.  I (and several others) have gotten this before, and who knows if it really means anything or not.

 

I asked for a CLI increase on both my PayPal Smart Connect and Amazon card in Feb of this year, and was declined with the same response for both.  However, in March I received auto-CLI on both cards - huh?

 

As far as the 4 vs. 6 month thing goes, I just got another increase at 4 months on my Walmart card.  Last CLI in 1/12, and asked for another about 2 weeks ago.  They increased me from $1200 to $1800, then a couple of days later I logged into my account and was offered the upgrade to a Walmart Discover with a limit of $2000.  So, hopefully you will not have to wait a full 6 months to get your increase.

The response I got from GE JCP card before was, "not enough payment history".  They want you to use the card before they will increase your limit.

 

I also have to echo what TNT said.  I got a Walmart card with 600 CL, within 18 months it had gone up to 1500 and I was offered to upgrade it to a Walmart Discover with 3500 CL.  I really did not use the card that much, just for 0% promotions... I would say in 18 months I put...  a rough guess 2k through it.
