Gardening works.

After being in the garden for a mere 4 months, I was tempted to leave by Discover's auto CLI of $500.

Checking with Cap 1, I was informed that I wasn't able to PC my Platinum to a Quicksilver without a hard inq, so that was a no go.

Wanting to add another prime lender, I tried my luck with Chase's Pre-Qualifying link and was notified that I was good to go for their Freedom/Slate.

Application submitted and received approval! Smiley Happy

With that in mind, I closed my first CC of Elan Financial, they were just not willing to grow with me, even with my other cards having considerably higher limits.

My stable includes Discover, Chase, and Capital One. Not too shabby, I think!

Re: Gardening works.

J14K if your Elan was a KeyBank card, Key is retaking those very soon. Though idk if Key will grow their cards or not, as they just recently started self servicing their cards again.

Congratulations on your approval!  On the other hand,  I've PC'd my Cap1 Platinum to QS w/o a HP,  try calling the Cap1 EO once again and ask for SP if possible.  Cap1 has been really great giving me a CLI & PC with just SPs.

Re: Gardening works.

what is this about a PC with HP... Who told you such a thing?

Capital One doesn't even do HP for CLI requests... those reps couldn't even find a credit report if they tried...

Call 800-955-1455 - This is the Executive Office, they can probably have you product changed in 2 minutes... get the Quicksilver!

congrats on chase!

Ahhh, it was with my local credit union. I think I've seen the news about KeyBank, but I don't bank with them though.

Again, this is why I post here.

I'm not taking a HP for nothing, and I realize Cap 1 Reps can be quite ignorant.

I'll take down the number and give them a call after Chase posts to my credit report.
It might make my case more appealing, and hopefully inclusive of a higher limit and lower apr Smiley Happy

Re: Gardening works.

Congrats on your new Freedom. Cap 1 doesn't do HPs for PC or CLI's. - definitely try again.
