I'm currently renting and I'm worried about how BILT plans to integrate existing cardholders onto the careless platform. What would happen the WF account? Would a new revolving account be posted to my credit profile thus taking another 5/24 slot. And what would happen to the WF account? Would they product change me to something like the active cash?
It depends on the lenders involved and the system they choose. As Bilt gets closer to the Wells Fargo->Cardless transfer they will say more. I however do have a guess. Most likely Wells Fargo will suspend reporting your account and then Cardless will start reporting the same account from the original opening day. This may cause none or both to report for some time. Also Wells Fargo is allowed to offer to convert to another product if they choose based on their contract but it most likely will be a portfolio sale so no keeping of customers. Your login account is separate from your actual products so they will just remove the Bilt card from your list that you see and you will need to setup your login again at Cardless after the transfer unless you already have an account there. You most likely will not get any extra accounts however they also can just mark the old account closed like Synchrony does and have Cardless start reporting from the original open date so you get an extra account but it depends on the lender. Regardless if you have had your Bilt card for 2 years already then there is no issues. If you have had it for less than 2 years then it might slow your applications if they want to add accounts which is rare but Chase would be aware of it as the transfer is public information.
That's what scares me the most. I don't want another card added to my 5/24 count. If a new account were for some reason be reported. Would Chase probably grant an exemption to this only regarding their 5/24 rule?
