I'm not really interested in the offers, but I know my college accepts it and it is not listed in here. But on the site American Express says "The following colleges and universities accept American Express Cards for tuition payments, in addition to many more." Just fun food for thought!
I've come across a few places around here that don't take AmEx - restaurants, mainly. Also, our local Dominos Pizza CLAIMS to accept AmEx... and yet I've never succeeded in actually paying them with AmEx. Try to order online and pay with AmEx, it won't go through. You get some error message telling you to call the store. They then proceed to go through the whole rigamarole of taking your card details and putting the payment through... but it's never worked for me, and I always end up using a Visa/MC instead, although they always act like this has never happened before. It's happened to me, hm, three times in the last month, and I forget how many times before that. First time it happened, I freaked out that the FR fairy was paying me a visit... after a few attempts (with both my Delta SkyMiles card and my Blue), all to no avail, I've come to the conclusion that no matter what they say, they don't actually accept AmEx... or at least, they don't accept MY AmEx! I might keep trying periodically, just to see if it ever starts working...
That totally happened to me at Dominos! The site told me to call the store, but it routed to a call center where they told me that the reason it wouldn't go through was the online coupon I had selected was invalid! They didn't say anything about it being the CC. I ended up still submitting online and using cash, since they wouldn't let me use the coupon I'd picked. Plus I love the pizza tracker
Oh, and I found a gas station that doesn't take AMEX. Southern CA.

I was quite shocked to discover that movie theter that I went to last Saturday didn't accept it either. They are a major movie chain as well.
