Getting a decent Credit limit

Hello all....Please don't take this as complaining but I am hoping someone in a similar situation might provide me with good advice.  I have graduated from cards like First Premier and Capital One to cards like Juniper and Wamu.  My ficos are TU=710, EX=670, EQ=672.  I am very happy to have 2 wamu cards - one with a limit of $3000 and one with a $1500 limit.   My Juniper is up to $3500.  I use these cards combined for my business trips to pay for my expenses but it would be nice to finally get a card that offers a strong credit line (above $5k maybe?) .  My delimna is I applied for an Amex Green in November 07 and a Citi Dividend in May 08 - both denials due to a BK from 2002.  I have really worked hard to get my scores up and my utilization under 9%.  Is there a card out there that may give a decent limit but can accept dated blemishes such as mine?

Edited just a lil whoopsie. -P

Re: Getting a decent Credit limit

Have you  checked the BK-friendly CCCs thread?

Admittedly, the thread is rather dense, but if you patiently wade through it, you'll find some good advice as to what cards to go after and which ones to leave alone for the time being.

Happy reading and Good luck!

Re: Getting a decent Credit limit

The reason I found out about this forum is because I was trying to do some research on First Command Bank.

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/fico/board/message?board.id=creditcard&thread.id=3656&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

According to that thread, they'd consider someone with a bankruptcy over 5 years old and a credit score of 675, but that's for the entry level Visa with limits as low as $200. The ficoforum member in that thread said scores of 700+ pulled seemingly exclusive from Transunion were required for their top tier card, but bankruptcy details are unavailable. However, their cards offer no fees and have the best APRs I have ever seen.

I'm 18 so I have limited history, but I'm trying to go for that platinum card in like a year. It just looks so great on paper.

Re: Getting a decent Credit limit

I was added as an AU on a few CCs with high CLs ($10k+, high compared to what I had at the time). Since then, I've been approved for two $10k CCs, one $5k CC, and all of my existing CCs have raised my limits a bit. I went from $8k in total CLs to almost $40k (not including the AU lines) since being added in June 2008. As with all things, YMMV.

Re: Getting a decent Credit limit

Have you tried any CUs such as NFCU (if you are eligible) or PenFed?

Re: Getting a decent Credit limit

visit you local CU. If you don't have a local one, see if you qualify to join NFCU or another.

Re: Getting a decent Credit limit

Cu will be your best bet if you can qualify to join one. Like other s have said, if you can join nfcu, you have a better chance of staring with at least 5k. Even if they start you with 1k, use it well for 6 mos and you you will be on your way up. They initially started me with 1k, bumped it to 5k after 6 mos and approved me for 15k on another card. Before this even target would not give me their famous $200 store card, go figure.
