I'm probably doing a Euro trip next year a Ib would be perfect. But don't know when or if I would even use Avios. Depending of my UR accumulation goes I may fly to Europe via UA

But have needs for domestic personal flights. I started reading to see if I can convert BA to IB if needed.

Once everything posts I have around 90k MRs. So rather than splitting up between BA and Ib I will prob hit BA then. I was thinking maybe aero plan since aeroplan gives me star alliance access but with BA+CSP cards avios is a better egg basket

Plus 50k chase bonus whenever I hit that chase BA spend.

Transfer to BA then to IB.

More details there.

You have to have a IB account open for 3 months before you can transfer. So I'd start now.

Thanks @h4LO

Did you have to provide your passport info to IB when setting up? I'm a bit uneasy to provide
It to foreign websites

I don't have a passport yet and I was able to sign up for an Iberian account.

They actually sent my IB Classica card all the way from Malta. LOL

Re: Got FRd by Amex

Even if you or Amex close the cards before it's reported to your CR, it will eventually still reflect onto your credit reports.

I'm not too sure if Amex will refund the AF either, since you did get the sign up bonus. I think they will prorate the remaining 11 months and refund you that?

Re: Got FRd by Amex

AF hasn't been charged yet to the cards so I was thinking of pre emotively closing some
Of them to ensure hard limits on charge cards aren't too low (since i will reduce their exposure if I close cards voluntarily )

AF will still be posted by the end of the first statement, which mean if the account is closed by then, it will be reporting as a closed account with a balance, which may sometimes be even worse if the CL is reporting as 0.

Re: Got FRd by Amex

To be honest, I think your accounts will be fine for the most part. You probably just end up with a hard limit or a CLD in the worst case scenario.

Same opinion here.

Re: Got FRd by Amex

Any downside to closing down unused TLs now before FR begins? The upside of keeping unused TLs in order to move the limits to spg (Amex card I want to keep) is less important IMO than reducing my TLs w Amex and avoiding overly punitive hard floors on my charge cards.

Also it may help keep my profile less risky to chase and barclays
