What an interesting day. I was making the usual daily bank run for my job and went to a Chase branch to make a bunch of deposits. Got ambushed by 2 Chase representatives while on my way to the teller line. Was a little annoyed because I've always hated when they did that. I just want to quickly get in line, make my deposits and get the heck out of Dodge. One of the reps took my deposits and headed off to the teller with them while the other rep sat down with me, looked up information on all of my accounts and gave me the usual spiel, asking me if I'm familiar with certain account features and explaining to me what some of my options are. She then got to the subject of credit cards and I basically told her what I told the last Chase rep that ambushed me a few months ago. I told her that I've been rebuilding and I'm just not ready to apply yet because I'd get big fat decline right now. She asked me why I felt that would be the case and I told her that my current utilization is too high and is close to 50%.
And get this, she then asked me what would I have to do to bring it down. I raised an eyebrow and said, "umm, pay it." Lol..
Anyway, she continued to explain the benefits of the Chase Slate card and then said that when I was ready to apply she or her associate would be happy to help with that but wasn't sure if their current promotion would still be available by then. And then while she continued to explain the 0% joys of the card and was trying to sell me on the balance transfer feature and said I could transfer the balance from the NASA credit card over to their card, she then whips out this credit card form and asks me to look it over, print my last name and initial it. At that point my brain was on Power Save mode and I printed and initialed the form without protest. She then bounced up a bit on her chair and happily announced that I was instantly approved. She said it wasn't a big amount but that at least I was in. I was in complete denial about the whole thing. I asked her if she was pulling my leg, I then looked around and asked her if there were hidden cameras on me at that moment and asked her if I was on an episode of PUNK'd.. After giving her a hard time about it for about a minute I then asked what the credit limit was, thinking that it would be like $300 - $600 and she said $1000.. I laughed and told her that it was definitely big enough... High-fives were also exchanged between me and the two reps, LOL..
I've been banking with Chase for about 8 years and ALWAYS wanted a credit card with them but was always afraid to take that leap because I always thought they'd be a very tough nut to crack. I always figured I'd take a crack at them once my scores were in the 700 range and my utilization was very low, which was likely to happen at the end of this year..But, for whatever reason, fate wanted me to land that Chase card today. 
Instead of relying heavily on my Chase debit cards for my day-to-day stuff, the Chase credit card will now be my goto card for a good number of those things. Hopefully auto credit line increases happen fairly regularly.
p.s.- And oh yeah, First Premier is now FIRED!! 
I was reading your story and "lol'ing" because I totally get how you feel about Chase. I'm in the same boat. Have had accounts with them for years but never received any offers and was always too scared to apply. The closest I'll ever get to a Chase card is being an AU on my hubby's, regardless of what my FICO is. They just intimidate me for some reason..lol

I went to the ATM to w/d some $ and the screen said I was approved for a Chase Freedom card. Since I was just approved 5 days before I was skeptical but said ok I will use the touchscreen and have them send me another card

Learned today after 2 new CB pulls, the pre-approved card was declined. With today's electronics, did they have to go to the well 2 more times and a total of 3 times in < 5 days only to decline me? I am trying to get the inquiries removed as we speak.
