I've been waiting for this, ignoring the standard offer of $75 back to upgrade ever since I downgraded my BCP to BCE.
Today I got the $150 back and no fee for one year upgrade offer ![]()

Congratulations!
Good job, dude!!! I was offered that card as well, but I don't use prescription drugs nor have a family. Not a big fan of annual fees either. So just got the custom cash card instead for 5% back.
I got both but in particular like the BCP. Probably one of the best cash back cards out there even with the annual fee. I viewed the bonus as negating about year and a half of annual fees then first year is annual fee free. Enjoy it!
Congratulations @mgood AMEX has been giving me the same $75 (I downgraded my card too a few years ago). I might consider it for the $150.
Congrats @mgood ! I have a few things maybe you can answer: first, when is your annual renewal date? I'm curious about the "no fee for a year" wording. If you accept this offer like 2 months before your renewal, what will happen at renewal? Is the no fee only until the next renewal? Or, if you wait until after your renewal date and then accept, do you get ta full year free? Do they maybe prorate fees based on when you accept?
I downgraded to BCE in April and am planning to upgrade after my renewal next April so I can get 2 years (last half of 2026 and first half of 2027) of 6% grocery benefit before I have to downgrade again.

I got the BCP in April 2024. Got the SUB and no annual fee for the first year.
When the $95 fee posted this year, I called and downgraded to BCE. The $95 was credited back to my account.
Here we are a few months later and they offered me an upgrade deal with no annual fee for another year. I accepted.
When that fee posts in a year or so, I'll downgrade again.

So, accepting the offer in August resets and moves your renewal date from April to Aug?

Yes and no? I mean, your card is still x years old based on when you opened it. Your due date/statement date is whenever you set it to. Neither of those change. But you will get the AF billed based on when you accepted the offer, not based on the date your card was opened. I just got billed the 1 yr AF on 8/10/2025 after having accepted that same offer 8/10/2024.
