While I'm going to avoid applying for any more cards this year, I did apply for the Walmart card this morning because I wanted to be able to see my TU credit score every month (and don't want to pay out the nose for it). I only had 3 hard inquiries on my TU report (all of which were from January), so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal if I added a fourth when it will evaporate about the same time as the other three.
I got approved for a $1000 limit for the Walmart Discover, which would make this my third GE card and actually the only card in my wallet that is on the Discover network.
I absolutely loathe Walmart, so I imagine I will never actually use the card at a Walmart store, but I will probably have my Netflix subscription autorenew on it so that the card stays active.
Congrats to you too! I agree it's not worth putting much through this card. I guess some rewards are better than none but 0.25% is pretty mediocre. Like you I am getting it for the FICO scores and also to use at Sam's Club (they only take Discover).
