Graduated from BoA, but can't get AF waived?

So earlier this month my secured card with BoA graduated to an unsecured card. I asked them to PC it to a 3-2-1 Cash Rewards card, and I was told my AF would be waived.

However, online, it still says AF of $39. So, I called in and asked them about it, and they told me that they cannot waive the AF. After voicing my concern about being stuck with my oldest credit card with an AF, the lady spoke with the manager and said that the credit line is reported as still open with BoA as long as I keep one credit card open with them (not necessarily my PC'd 3-2-1 card). So I told them I just recently got approved for a Better Balance Rewards card with them, and she said that as long as I hold that card open, my credit history from my old secured card will continue.

Does this sound right to you guys?? This sounds kind of strange to me....

If it's true, then I'll just move all my credit limit to my better balance rewards card and close my PC'd 3-2-1 card.

Yes than can combine limits and close cash rewards. But, you also can email EO and have AF removed. Easy peasy. Google the addy. Smiley Wink

I contacted them via Facebook, and it took two weeks for the lady to follow up after our initial conversation, but she removed the fee! =)
