Being a new AMEX card holder, this was my first experience with their chat support:
I couldn't remember the exact details of my SUB, so I thought I'd take a minute to chat with them. The CS rep was very helpful and quick with her assistance. She did try to get me to add an AU to the card at the end of the chat, which AMEX seems to really push. Regardless, I love using chat on websites versus calling, and this was a great experience.

Glad you had a great experience. Chat is my preferred method of contact as well as it's an instant written record of conversation. I know some people like secured messages too, but I find the amount of time to get responses to be too long.
I'm a big fan of both Amex and Citi chat. It still frustrates me to this day that Chase doesn't offer it and that Discover seemingly nixed it as well a couple of months ago.
I have always been pleased using AMEX chat as well. In fact, your post reminds me to have a chat convo with them this morning.
Amex customer service has always been great for me. Glad to hear you had a similar experience.
125k for 2K spend?! What card and how'd you get that?

Probably a Hilton card

AMEX Hilton Ascend. Not sure what you mean by "how". It was in my list of "prequalifications" from AMEX, and I just happened to be staying at a Hilton for a work conference, so I figured "why not". It gives automatic "Gold" status too.
