Re: Grown Up Credit Card

I was under impression that the family member had to be retired in or order to join nfcu. I seem to recall something saying my dad was ineligible despite 4 years in the navy

You were misinformed Caleb87.  If your Dad was in the Navy, you are eligible to join NFCU.  Retirement from a military service is not required.

+1

Up until a few months ago either active duty or retirement was a requirement, but it no longer is... now all vets (and their relatives) are eligible.

@Caleb87, give NFCU another call... I think you'll be very happy with the results!  Smiley Happy

Re: Grown Up Credit Card

Congrats on your approval.  I have one of these and like it.

I wanted to tell everyone about some excitement I experienced the other day.  We don't have an NFCU branch anywhere near us.  I took my savings account card to a co-op ATM and was rejected while I was trying to access money from my NFCU checking account.  These 2 bank cards are always SD'ed because I fund my NFCU accounts with EBates Big Fat Checks.

I broke out my cell phone and went to my NFCU app not realizing I had picked up the wrong card at home.  It said there was an NFCU location nearby.  I thought, how could I have not known about this for years?  As it turns out, it was only an ATM at CVS pharmacy.  The ATM was covered in NFCU ads.  Heck, to me this is just as good as an NFCU branch.

Wish my mother would allow me to sign her up for a $50 NFCU account so I could then hook up my aunt, her husband and her son.  They would all have access to a real NFCU ATM close by.
