They couldn't prequalify me
but at least now I have a new prequal site so I can see where I stand before wasting a hard pull. And they pull Equifax (someone here said?). That's my best score right now and with the fewest inquiries. I'll definitely be checking them in the future! Thanks for this!

They HP EQ and SP EX as part of their application review process.

Except in my case I got a SP on EQ and a HP on Experian.. Think first person in MF history lol.. Still suprised it happened this way! They said my EQ freeze wasnt lifted in time when they called for verification lifted while on phone with verification dept, but must of done pull while on phone although she said she would wait a few mins before signing off on it and moving on to UW.
. Wasn't thrilled about it, but what can you do

Ah, that makes sense they would HP EX if EQ was in the freezer. So, you're definitely a good example of things that can go in the opposite direction.
I would presume that if EQ had been thawed then the HP would have soiled EQ lol 😜
Yep would of preferred if EQ would of been pulled as have 10+ hps in last year on them where-as EXP at time was 3 hp's in last year, now 4
.. I wanted Exp to used for other things being a lower HP count for year. I was kinda upset to be honest as they are known to be EQ only, but i certainly proved that wrong or least in my case. I am sure if i would of got the lift off in time it would of been an EQ HP for sure. Spoke with UW and asked where is EQ pull they said it was frooze when Verificaiton gave it off to them meaning i missed it by seconds probably. oh well it all worked out i suppose..

Another data point on HSBC prequalifications:
I had an HSBC card that I closed last year, and because I therefore already had an HSBC login, I could not use this prequalification checker.
I just noticed today, however, that HSBC now has pre-approvals available within Credit Karma. I check my score there regularly, and just saw today, for the first time, in the "credit cards" section that I am "pre-approved" for HSBC's Gold Mastercard.
I'm not planning to bite, but it looks like another way for anyone interested in HSBC to check your chances of getting approved with them.
I tried their prequal today and top of the preapproval list was their Gold card and also being prequaled for their other two cards. Im waiting too see how many end up getting finally approved. 10+ years ago I had like 4 or 5 HSBC accounts. Lets just say it didnt end nicely so Im surprised they preapproved me
