Good luck!For about a year, their max has been one card, unless the second is received via a preapproved offer.They seem to enforce this rule sporadically, however, and there are many, many exceptions, so YMMV as always. This rule does exist, however, and the fact that this rule exists at all should be enough to keep existing HSBC accountholders from applying for a second card, IMO, unless they don't mind burning an inquiry.
