Help! My credit cards are decreasing my limits!

For some reason even though I'm in excellent standing with regards to paying on time and paying off my entire debt in full annually, my Chase card reduced my balance from $7500 to $1000 after two years of being an excellent customer. Is there any recourse for me? I'm appalled that they would do this after all my work on paying promptly and more than my minimum due. My fico score is going to suffer now because my debt to available credit is now higher due to the $6500 open credit thats been taken away. What can I do?????

Amex is notorious for doing this, I don't think I have seen much from Chase on it though. Is there anything that may have scared them off on your reports. High balances on other cards, new collections? Did you carry a large balance for a long time and suddenly pay it off? You may want to call the back door number to speak with a credit anaylst. I would be really sweet, but tell them how badly this affected your credit score and ask them to reconsider. Chase is pretty good when it comes to recons and often once you talk to a live person, you'll end up in atleast a better position then you started even if it's not exactly where you want to be. Good luck. I feel for you.

Is there any trigger that could have led to the AA? How often do you use your Chase card? Some CCCs will CLD you if you rarely use their card.

So sorry to hear this. You said, "...more than my minimum due..." Does this mean that you carry a balance routinely?

Did they give you any explanation at all?
* Credit is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master. * Who's the boss --you or your credit?
