I am about to pay off two co's with chase and one with amex. All three are with the oc and report maxed out each month and are killing my utilization. Shows up between 50-70 % depending on cra. So I'm hoping that I can get a decent score jump when they show 0 balance because then util will be about 5% or less. With about 10000 in current and open credit lines. Once these are paid off how hard and how long might it take me to get back in with chase and amex. I know its ymmv just curious if anyone else has had any experience with this. Also if it;s gonna be a while till their memory fades. What is the possibility of maybe getting a usaa amex since its a cobranded card. Would that be easier. My scores are currently are still a little low so Im hoping they'll be high enough once these are paid off to do something. thanks for taking time to read this( sorry so long)

Don't want to sound pessimistic but it could take years. Paying off the COs certainly helps and will hopefully enable you to get back in even if it takes some time. You can start trying in six months and periodically try every six months or so. Hopefully if they have you blacklisted they won't even pull a HP but nothing is guaranteed. The USAA Amex is not issued by Centurion bank and other than the COs showing on your reports are not affected by Amex blacklisting you. If you get a USAA Amex it also won't help you get back with Centurion bank anymore than another credit card. Wish you good luck

That's not being pessimistic. It's being honest. I know it will take time. Just hoping it won't be forever. Lol. But I'm gonna keep pushing forward. Got a bunch of tax lines paid and removed last month. Ready to work on co's and utilization.
That's a great plan and in time your scores will go way up. Hopefully you'll catch them one day in a forgiving mood. It won't be forever.

Were they state tax liens? How long did it take you to get them removed? I am paying off a CA tax lien soon and want to get if off my CR in less than the purported (at least here) 7 yrs. Any tips or tricks you can share?
Thanks, I certainly am trying. Didn't mean for any of my accounts to go bad. Used to have near perfect credit a score over 750. I always knew to pay my bills on time. What I didn't know was to watch your balances. I managed ( with the help of the ex-wife) to run up several high balances and they were all paid on time till the divorce. And anyone that has been through that knows how hard that can be on your credit. lol. But haven't had any late payments in four years, have established several new cl's and now util is at about 5 to 10% ( not including chase and amex ). So it's a work in progress. Got about 3 yrs or so till everything falls off. Just keeping my chin up and chugging along. This forum helps in many ways. Support, Advice, and just compassion for missteps. My kids and family think I'm crazy because I'm always talking about advice I got on here. LOL.

It only took me 33 years to get back in with Amex after burning them in 1982.
Well I said hopefully not forever. That's not forever, but it's close. lol
