Help with Repayment Days?

Hello all,

I am concerned that my TU score went down by 50 points this month. The only factor that changed was my total utilization - it went from 17% last month to 66% this month.

Neither month was it even close to the due date! Would this cause such a drop in credit score? (684-634)

What is generally the best date to pay down my credit cards? I have a BOA Cash Rewards and a CapOne Quicksilver.

BOA: Currently shows - Payment Due Date 01/04/2015, Next Closing Date 01/07/2015

CapOne: Currently shows - Payment Due Date 1/1/2015

I never carry a balance past the due date and I am confused why my utilization would still be reported so high.

I appreciate any help that you can give and apologize if this post lacks any required information.

George

Re: Help with Repayment Days?

Pay your BOA balance down to $50 or so to show activity at least, before your due date. Your statement cuts 1/7/2015. Do not make any charges between 1/4/2015 & 1/7/2015. Use another card during this time frame.
Do the same for your CapOne. Statement usually cut three or more days after the due date. That's the amount that will report to all three bureaus. After the statement cut, pay off your balance.
If you cannot pay down to $50, try to pay down to under 10% of your CL.
Rinse & repeat. GL!
