My mom was approved for a $300 Credit One card as part of her rebuilding and added me as an authorized user. Buuut I don't really want that card or any other card for that matter, as I'm pretty sure that'd lower my AAoA. Last card I applied for, and got approved was the BBVA Compass and I think I'm good with that for a while or at least until after I lease the car I want.
My question is, can I call and have them cancel my card so it won't show up on my CR or is it too late? She got the approval letter in the mail yesterday.
another thread about someones mother adding them as an AU....doesnt your mother ask you before she does this kinda thing? lol
My mom would never even know what an AU is. lol
Your mom can terminate you on the card. It will probably still show on the credit reports. You can then contact the credit bureau directly and have them remove AU's with terminated status.
But truthfully speaking, unless you never want to apply for another credit card again, you might as well leave it. Think about it this way, it will be an older credit line than any future credit lines you may add. A year from now, it will be positively adding to your AAoA and future apps.
AND with your short history, this new account will probably only ding you a month of AAoA ... just leave it, credit is a life long journey... a month of AAoA is nothing but you'll eventually get like 10 years of history out of that AU card.
Thank your mom but tell her she probably could have gotten a much better Cap1 card instead of that Credit One card

I called Cap1 and the removed me as AU from my ex's card and the entire account history also disappeared from my report. I imagine you could do the same thing with Credit One, but good luck getting an English speaking rep when you call Credit One

that's exactly what i told her. I got so mad that she added me as an AU without asking me first

hahaha that's exactly what I was thinking when I saw what card it was. Credit One???? C'mon, mommmm
Really just shows how little most people know about credit - not singling out your mom but just people in general. She probably thought she was helping you by adding you as an AU. I'd venture to guess that most people (not on myFICO) wouldn't know the impact of adding an AU.

This presumes that Dearest Mother does not soon realize just how much of a vampire Credit One is, cancel her card, and then... poof! there goes the Credit One AU on OP's report. 10 years? My bet is it won't last 1 year.
Best to just let Mom know this one was a nice thought, but a bad decision, and ask her to remove the AU card... and to watch the fees pile up in her own Credit One account.
