Hello all,
It's been a while since I've been on. I used this forum a lot in the past and found the members very helpful in getting things straigtened out in the past with my credit and now I need help again.
I'm looking to transfer a balance from a credit card under my wife. It's about $28k on a $30k credit card. I'm not expecting to transfer it all, but I'd like something that lets me transfer at least $10k plus has at least another $10k for purchases at 0% APR on balance transfers and purchases for long enough to get it paid off.
I've got the following:
Cap One - $13K - $0 balance
Cap One Venture - $30k - $0 - $5k balance (I use this as my daily driver and PIF every month)
Amex Clear - $7.5K - $0 balance
Amex Blue Cash - $25k - $0 - 1K balance (PIF every month)
Amex Personal Loan - $21K
FICO Score: 792
These are the cards with balance transfer options that I'm considering:
U.S. Bank Visa Platinum Credit Card
Wells Fargo Platinum Visa Credit Card
BankAmericard Credit Card
I did some searching but I didn't find anything that answered the questions I'm looking for about being able to transfer a lot ($10+k) and have a high credit limit ($20+k). I know there are a lot of good recommedations for Bank of America because you can transfer it to other products with them once you're done with the balance transfer. I really like that because I don't like to apply for credit unless I have to. My concern with it is that they only give you 60 days for balance transfer and purchases at the 0% APR. This could work if they give me say $20k for balance transfers and $25k - $30k limit, but I'd ideally like one that let me continue to put purchases on it for a while (at least 12 months) at 0% APR.
Does anyone have any suggestions or other recommended credit cards?
Some regional banks like BBVA / Regions will offer a decent CL and 0% periods. Citi is a long term option w/ a couple of their cards but the CL's tend to be low unless they really like you.
BOA should dole out a decent limit w/ the right metrics in place.
WF/USB kind of fall in line w/ Citi on the lower limit side.
I would consider the Amex Everyday card for your situation. 15 months @0%. I am recommending that because if you don't get the CL that you are looking for, you can move some of your available limit from your other cards to accomodate you. Just an idea. GL!
I like Capital One and Ducks Unlimited because you can just write yourself a check and deposit it.
Just got an offer from Ducks for 6.99% for the life of the loan.
Cap One has offers up to 18 months 0% as low as 2% transfer fee.
GL!
DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!
Thank you everyone for your recommendations!
I went with the BankAmericard Credit Card. Unfortunately, they only approved me for $13k, well below the $20k - $30k I was hoping for.
I just wanted to let everyone know so that I can hopefully help the next person that is looking for a good balance transfer option. You might consider another credit card issuer.
