So to irritate myself more, I was thinking about the "declined for a mortgage opened in 05,06,07, I called the backdoor number to some underwriter and said I was denied for a mortgage open in those years which is true I did have a mortgage then but all mortgage accounts have been closed!
He said well "then I suggest you look at your credit and dispute if it's incorrect" (that line really gets me going)
I was like it's not wrong, I did open a mortgage during those years but they are showing closed and paid now
"well it's a risk that we are not willing to take"
I was like but if it's closed there would be no risk, can you review this
"no, you would have to send us a letter giving us permission to open a new application and pull credit agian"
Why would you pull credit again when you just did, the information is still the same
"We can't use this application because we already reached a desicion on it"
Well it will be a cold day in whatever before I let Merrick pull my credit again... Thanks goodbye
lol
I'm sorry, I know you're frustrated, but doesn't that just perfectly sum up so much about consumer credit these days???

I think Myfico members need to take over these underwriting departments, "I mean your bachelor degree in finance is great and all (wish I had one actually) but you don't seem to know a thing about credit and how to read a report correctly!"
I just wish a bank with an underwriting department was here in CA, I would commute a 100 miles a day to work in underwriting!
I'd gladly give you my Hooter's card if they'd let me lol.
Although, I think it was for the best, they are a finicky lender.
@Creditaddict
Try this, and you can get your Hooters card without even going through the underwriting.....................................................................................................................
EDIT: on a serious note, read my post here. I was denied for "unknown reasons". I didnt even get a denial letter, but many moons later I was told over a phone call that I was denied due to a repo on an auto loan...which is BS as I never take-out loan for buying cars.

I hear ya (loud and clear)...consumer credit reaosnings often times make no sense and (appear) to make up new one liners as they go.
Actually, there are so many court decisions on ECOA suits that specify that reasons given for AA must be directly related to a verifiable credit risk. Declined over a paid-off mortgage or an account that never existed would be something you could use to smack them over the head with.

I applied for the Hooters MC back on 11/7/10 and as of 11/28/10, I am told it is still pending. I spoke with the credit dept. who asked me some security questions and finally was told that it was at a supervisor's desk for final review since I live in Arizona.
