I'm sure a small part of how I got approved for a Freedom Unlimited card during my rebuilding phase (scores in the 620 range) was due to me banking with them, but YMMV.

Right, but then, if the OP applies and is denied, people can say "Sorry for the rejection but you really need a relationship, put $100 in checking" and the whole thread can recycle!
I would negotiate with them and try for $75!!!!!
Hello everyone. New guy here.
I don't think a relationship with Chase is all that important. If anything, I likely have a poor relationship with them (or maybe not- details below) and was still approved for a Freedom around a year ago.
Long story short, they jacked up some paperwork on a home refinance which was going to cost me way more than if I hadn't refinanced. I take full responsibilty for failing to notice their mistake before signing the paperwork. I paid off the remaining balance (payoff amount) of the newly refinanced house note and closed all accounts on the spot. I haven't done business with Chase in over a decade until apping for a Freedom card in 2019, which was approved and then somehow turned into a Freedom Unlimited. Apparently some things never change.
Since Chase didn't receive even $1 of interest to offset the closing costs of the refi and then having closed every account with them on the spot, I would suspect that my relationship with Chase is less than stellar. On the other hand, maybe my relationship with them is good since I paid off my house note even though they were stiffed for closing costs?
@Anonymous when they were reviewing your app, what documents did they ask you to send them?

My license.
I called the reconsider line after being denied for a Freedom card and was told that it would definitely help if I established positive banking history with them.

Did they really? Did they say deposit $100 into a checking account and the CFF is yours lol?
Why do you think they needed that first?
