Maybe just maybe competing banks will see this as a sign and open their doors with cards similar to the Chase portfolio plus Chase don't like CLIs or at least they don't make easy to get them. I'm AU on 3 Chase cards and just fine with that...I can do without someone (the bank) telling me travel their paved golden road for an in with them.
Well, not that I'm a Chase apologist, but I don't see how other Banks can emulate their rewards program.
There's enough options where Chase doesn't dictate or warrant waiting on one of their cards

I'd agree there are plenty of cashback options, but not for travel rewards. Basically, Chase is the only option if you're interested in URs, UA, Southwest, Marriott, Ritz, IHG, or Hyatt.
I had 3 or 4 inquiries fall off so I applied for the ink+ on 3/23. Denied. Recon'd. Denied too many new accounts. Recon'd, requested to reallocated personal credit, not allowed, but explained my situation further, they are re reviewing, and automated status says 30 days. Fingers crossed!

I applied after 3 months in the garden and was denied! to recent new cc's and inquiries.
I'm going to try again after 6 months in the garden.
I have 10 CCs and 1 secured loan in 18 months, 8 new cards around 3 months and have been just approved for Chase United Mileage Plus and Ink Plus on 04/07.
My advise : Jump quickly on the boat when it's preparing to leave the port ![]()

Everyone's unhappy with it, but it's their business move, hardly rude of them to try to weed out those who just want to use cards just for the bonus.
While that is totally true, in my case I'm not just after the bonus. I want a CSP and the new FU card (still makes me laugh to type FU, apparently I'm juvenile) and I want to keep them long term. I missed the CSP as I was at 5 when the new rules hit. Two of my 5 were from Chase no less. I have not closed any cards, and I have no plans to close any of what I have. Well maybe my AmEx PRG but only when get the CSP to replace it.
In my case Chase is just keeping themselves from being my daily use card. Three of my 5 were hotel cards, glad I got them but it sucks they are keeping me from Chase. I have 10 to 12 months to wait and just hope I make it.
What are your stats?
