How do you get a BT Check? Like do you call the lender and ask for them? Are they frowned upon?
For some reason Barlcay sends them to me at least once a month.
Barclays sent me some with my apple visa a month after i opened my account without me asking. DW has a slate though and has never received one.
In my experience, lenders will either send them or not at their own choosing. Whenever I've had to ask the CSRs will say something like, "That option isn't available right now."
For a year, Barclays sent me those wonderful BT checks for my Sallie Mae every single month. Then as soon as they raised my CL high enough to really take advantage of them, they quit sending the checks.
Now CapOne is has started sending BT checks, but there's no telling when they'll suddenly decide to stop. It's a marketing thing and apparently not something we can get by request.
I used to really want/need these checks and never got them. Now I have no need and I get them every month from every company. Go figure.
So.. If you had a balance of $1000 on your Barclay, with the 0% rate about to expire.. What if you paid off the balance with Barclay's own BT check written to them? Lol. Would that effectively restart your 0%? (Since that's what all the checks offer.)
OP, Barclay sends reams of them, not sure how to request them since I never did. However, I did do a regular BT at some point on their card. maybe they target past BTers?

Barclays state in the fine print that BT checks can't be used to pay any Barclay account.

There's an option when logged into the Barclay account to request BT checks, I think under Tools. But on my account right next to that it say my current BT "promo" is 22.9% APR, same as regular account APR. Think I'll pass. Barclays used to send BT checks at least monthly the first year or so the account was opened, now they don't.

My account is under a year old, so maybe that's why I"m getting them.
