Does American Express even report to the credit bureaus?
@Anonymous wrote:How do you go from say 5k to 10k limits?
You just ask!
Citi from $1,200 to $20,000
FIA from $5,000 to $10,100
Amex from $5,000 to $15,000 ("automatic" 3xCLI)
Amex from $2,800 to $8,400 ("automatic" 3xCLI)
Chase from $8,000 to $19,500 (by closing CSP and having its CL transferred to the Freedom)
etc etc

Regardless of initial CL, with the 3X CLI program, you will be able to get the card to $10k+ in a matter of a year, outside. Start at $1k, for example, goes to $3k in 61 days, then $9k 181 days after that. If you get $2k (not unreasonable if you have 700+ scores and already at $5k with others) then $2k - $6k - $18k. You get the idea.
I got an American Express Blue Cash Everyday on 4/20/2013 with a $2000 starting limit. I don't use the card much at all, I know I bought a $997 HDTV set once, but other than that its been low usage or no usage.
I've requested SP CLI's regularly, and as of this morning, April fools day 2015, my limit on the BCE card is now $30,000. One way to get high limits is to already have high limits. Another is to have a card from several companies that do SP CLI increases, such as American Express, Discover (after 1st year), and FNBO (only if you call and ask if there is a pre-approved CLI offer).
