How does Amex charge card affect utilization?

So, I've been considering a charge card. Since the limit shows (on CR's) as highest balance, how does this affect utilization?

It doesn't.

utilization measures the amount of revolving credit you are using.

A charge card is not revolving credit.

Okay, solid enough. Next question: does Amex still back date (member since)? Don't want to take an AAOA hit...

Member since date will be whatever year but CR's 2016

I was told they stopped backdating in October 2015.

I realize CR'swint show activity until 2016, but I be had 2 revolvers with them. The second actually showed an "opened" fate prior to the first because of the month opened with the member since year (if that makes since).

Card will say Membersince 1998

CR's will reflect a new account opened 5.23/16

Thus AAoA goes down

Well, that pretty much answers it for me. I've got an SPG with them from Jan 2012. Don't know why I would open a new account with them and take the AAOA hit.
