PenFed can be very generous. You can ask for a CLI whenever you want. You apply for it like you are applying for a loan, you ask for what you want your new credit limit to be. You may get an instant approval, pending for a human decision, or denied. It works pretty much like the original application for the card. If they like your report (high scores) and you have the income to support it you can go as high as 50k. Anything 30k and above usually requires income documentation. Amounts below 30k may require income documentation. They are not as easy as NFCU. I would say having FICOs about 760 helps a lot with them as far as how generous they are.
