How long does it take for amex to free up credit from closed card

I want to go for another amex card. I was at the limit of number of amex revolvers so a few days ago I closed one of my amex cards. I am also near the ceiling of available credit with amex. How long will it take for the credit on the closed out card to become available against to me for new card apps if anyone has done this before.

How do you know you are near the CL ceiling?

When was your last 3x CLI request?

I don't ask for 3 x CLI anymore. No reason to push something like a FR over credit I don't need. I know because I believe I had to move credit to open a new card.
